To Be A Farmer
Daniel Webster once said, “Let us not forget that the cultivation of the earth is the most important labor of man. When tillage begins, other arts will follow. The farmers, therefore, are the founders of civilization.”
We learn our work ethic from watching those before us, who watched those before them. A family tradition, one might say. Generations of caring for the land and animals as much as we care for our own children. This is our way of life.
Lord bless our farmers this harvest and keep them safe. May the days be quick and the crops be plentiful. May the machines run smoothly and the farmers remain healthy. Watch over them as they work and remind them to sleep when they too often forget. Thank you for this land, for another day, and for our farmers.
Amen.
